Establishing ACCEL for students

Students who have an idea they would like to develop further are now attending our newly established program. Through a combination of meetings, homework and guidance, they can develop their ideas to commercially viable products or services.

Caspar Macody Lund, Senior Business Developer at BTO, is the project leader for the ACCEL Student program.

– We believe that many of the students have innovative ideas with great potential. We want to help them further along the way, says Caspar M. Lund.

The program is called ACCEL Student and is established in collaboration with Center for Innovation at Bergen University College (HiB). The first course was held on Thursday October 29, and during the coming months another five gatherings will be conducted.

The concept

In the ACCEL Student program the students is set to work with either their own or other students’ business ideas. The work is done through a combination of meetings, home work and guidance sessions, and the result of this might be commercially viable products or services. All attending students will receive a diploma.

– Fantastic opportunity for students

Øyvind M. Berge at Center for Innovation at Bergen University College praises the initiative.

– Participation in ACCEL Student is a fantastic opportunity for students who want to establish a company in the future. The experience can also be useful to bring into an ordinary work environment in both public and private sector because you get the competence needed to be a resource person in a process of change, says Øyvind M. Berge.

The first ACCEL program was implemented in 2011. Since then, BTO has conducted nine programs in collaboration with our partners. Previous programs have focused on entrepreneurs with early phase business ideas or established companies which work on new products, services, business ideas or spin-offs.

The goal is to run an ACCEL Student program every semester, and the program is planned to be promoted at every educational institution in Bergen.
